The Standard Pocket accommodates all Avocado mattresses, our Eco Organic Kids Mattress, and fits mattresses 6-16" in depth.

Because Avocado’s mission is creating sustainable products, we prefer our fully organic, absorbent, and breathable Organic Cotton Mattress Pad Protector. However, we also realize sometimes practicality trumps all else. That’s why we made this Organic Waterproof Mattress Protector. The fitted, lightweight pad is waterproof, machine-washable, and dependable in protecting your mattress from life’s little accidents. The waterproof polyurethane is thin, so it doesn’t have a plastic-like crinkle or rubbery noise, and you won’t overheat. Plus, it’s sandwiched by two layers of soft GOTS organic certified cotton.

Our waterproofing technology is made from an ultra-thin polyurethane waterproof barrier. We don’t use vinyl, PVC, or phthalates, and it isn’t dense, noisy, or rubbery, either. Our Waterproof Mattress Protector pairs with Avocado mattresses and is made with 95% organic cotton and just 5% polyurethane, which is within GOTS standards for an essential material accessory. Fine pores allow humidity to escape while the layer keeps liquid out. Plus, it protects against bacteria and dust mites.

Conventional cotton is a polluted crop. So we use GOTS organic certified cotton for the two absorptive layers sandwiching the waterproof barrier, as well as on the fitted elastic skirt. Best of all, organic cotton delivers a luxurious and soft finish, breathes easily, and wicks away moisture better than any synthetic.

Our waterproof protector is meant to be washed before use. That's because the GOTS organic certified cotton will shrink. It may take multiple washes until it's the perfect fit for your mattress. For future washes, simply spot clean or machine wash using an eco-conscious laundry detergent. Do not use bleach. Tumble dry on low or just air it out on the line until completely dry.

Our Organic Waterproof Mattress Protector is GREENGUARD Gold certified for low emissions and Formaldehyde Free certified by UL Environment. That means the mattress protector is scientifically proven to meet some of the world's most rigorous, third-party emissions standards for chemical exposure and pollutants, such as volatile organic compounds (VOCs), formaldehyde, and phthalates. The mattress protector is also MADE SAFE® Certified, so you can trust all the materials we use are free from ingredients linked to or suspected to cause harm to humans, animals, or ecosystems. Few mattress protectors meet this gold standard.

Our Organic Waterproof Mattress Protector and the fitted skirt is handmade with 95% GOTS organic certified cotton and an ultra-thin, breathable 5% polyurethane waterproofing layer. Manufactured for Avocado in Pakistan in a GOTS & GOLS organic certified factory.  No fire retardants, antimicrobial treatments, vinyl, PVC, phthalates, phosphorus, antimony or arsenic are used.

Our waterproof protector relies on two layers of organic cotton to absorb liquids and a thin, GOTS-approved polyurethane membrane in the middle, which functions as the waterproof barrier. Even so, all polyurethane-based membranes do have a tendency to get weaker over time and, sooner or later, their performance will drop. This can be the result of UV radiation, aging, flexing, high or low temperatures, punctures, and, of course, numerous washing cycles. Our waterproof protector represents the best possible performance while still being a GOTS-certified organic product. But we do not warrant it to be foolproof. No protector can claim that. It is, however, great for life's little accidents, as the hundreds of customer reviews attest. (Pro tip: some parents use two protectors at once, so they can just remove the outer protector in case of an accident for cleaning.) If you need a thick plastic protector with a zipper enclosure, we don’t sell those due to risk of chemical off-gassing and our preference for organic and sustainable products.

For a luxurious and premium finish, we use GOTS-certified organic cotton in a soft, natural color. The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is the worldwide leading textile processing standard for organic fibers, including ecological and social criteria, backed up by independent certification of the entire textile supply chain. Please wash your Organic Waterproof Mattress Protector prior to use with an eco-conscious laundry detergent. Do not bleach. Tumble dry low or hang on the line until completely dry. It may take up to three washes to get the protectors to proper size. We made them intentionally big since they are 100% cotton and will shrink.

Our natural pillows come voluminously stuffed, delivering a medium-plush feel. However, if you prefer to change its level of support, a convenient zipper enables you to remove fill to meet your ideal volume, firmness, and sleeping preference. Vegan Action (the Vegan Awareness Foundation) in Richmond, Virginia, has certified the Green Pillow and its manufacturing process, verifying the pillow does not use wool and does not contain animal products or byproducts that have been tested on animals.

Made in North America with domestic and imported materials. For a luxurious and premium finish, we use soft, breathable GOTS-certified organic cotton (CU863867), sourced from North Carolina and Canada for the most breathable of covers. The natural fill is a mix comprised of GOLS-certified organic latex, made with ≥95% certified organic latex, the highest possible standard, and sourced from our own facilities in India and Guatemala, plus GOTS-certified organic Kapok fiber (CU863867), also sourced from India. All material processing, cut & sew, assembly, and packaging are performed at our factory. A convenient zipper makes it easy to add or remove fill to suit your sleep preference.

The Avocado Green Pillow contains no chemical flame retardants, which are known to release VOCs and impact human health. We do not add them because we believe they generally do more harm than good. (FYI: Pillows are not required to pass the Standard for the Flammability of Mattresses and Mattress Pads, issued by the CPSC. Therefore, it is logical that ignition sources should be kept safely away from any pillow that contains natural materials without the use of chemical flame retardants.)

Machine wash your cotton cover only in cold water with an eco-friendly laundry detergent. Lay flat or hang to dry. Do not use bleach. Allow to dry completely before putting the cover back on your pillow. Fluff your pillow regularly; an excellent time to do so is when you make your bed in the morning.

Few companies will share this information before your purchase because it separates fact from marketing hype. We believe differently. Here is what the legal tag on the standard Avocado Green Pillow says: Made using domestic and imported materials with internal materials consisting of natural latex (70%) and kapok fiber (30%), based on weight.

As a Climate Neutral Certified company since 2019, we've measured Avocado's annual cradle-to-consumer emissions, offset them by investing in climate change solutions, and started taking real action to reduce our emissions. We also recognize our offsets and reductions aren't enough. Solving climate change will require systemic solutions. That's why, through our partnerships with Ceres and the American Sustainable Business Network, we also advocate for state and federal policies that support equitable solutions to the climate crisis.

We're proud to be certified by UL Solutions for a landfill diversion rate of 85%. That means only 15% of our manufacturing waste ends up in the landfill — we upcycle or recycle the rest. Since we began Project Zero Waste in 2020, we've been a pioneer in the space, increasing our waste diversion rate by 33%. We are the first mattress and bedding company to achieve this. But we aren't done yet. Our goal is at least a 90% diversion rate.

Our FSC-certified latex cores are sourced from India and Guatemala. They meet eco-INSTITUT label standards. The latex has a soft density (D55).

Our pillow protector features an ultra-thin polyurethane waterproof barrier that accounts for only 5% of its materials — within the GOTS standards for an essential material accessory. The rest is made of GOTS organic certified cotton. That means a healthier sleep for you and the added assurance that your pillow is protected from inevitable spills and stains, as well as bacteria and dust mites.

When it’s time to wash your pillow protector, doing so is simple. Remove it using the hidden side zipper and machine-wash it in cold water on the gentle cycle. Do not put it in the dryer. Hang the pillow protector and let it air dry. And if it looks a little wrinkly after the wash, that’s normal — the protector will smooth out once it’s back on your pillow.

Even so, all polyurethane-based membranes tend to get weaker over time, and their performance will drop sooner or later. This can result from UV radiation, aging, flexing, high or low temperatures, punctures, and numerous washing cycles. Our waterproof protector represents the best possible performance as a GOTS-certified organic product. But we do not warrant it to be foolproof. No protector can claim that. It is, however, great for life's little accidents, as the hundreds of customer reviews attest. (Pro tip: some parents use two protectors at once, so they can remove the outer protector in case of an accident for cleaning.) If you need a thick plastic protector with a zipper enclosure, we don’t sell those due to the risk of chemical off-gassing and our preference for organic and sustainable products.

Please wash your Organic Waterproof Pillow Protector before use with an eco-conscious laundry detergent. Do not bleach. Tumble dry low or hang on the line until completely dry. It may take up to three washes to get the protectors to the proper size. We made them intentionally big since they are 100% cotton and will shrink.

Our Organic Cotton Sheets are a true 400 or 600 thread count single-ply made of extra long staple organic cotton, so they are finer and softer.

Made with a manufacturing process that reduces water and electricity consumption, our Organic Cotton Sheets are pre-washed and processed to maintain a neutral pH level providing a safe touch to the skin. Our cotton is purchased directly from family growers to ensure traceability. We believe in getting to know the farmers and experiencing the farms where the cotton is grown.
